Week 3 - 2D meshing for Sheet metal
Objective
- Main objective is to take the midsurface of all the components after eleminating the geometric errors and to further proceeding with meshing the midsurface within the given quality criteria.
2. Procedures
- CAD model was exported to ANSA and the geometric errors were checked and rectified. Used @MENUBAR>TOOLS>CHECKS>GEOMETRY and @TOPO>HOTPOINTS/FACES/CONS.
- Midsurface extraction was done @FACES>MIDSURFACE>SKIN since the model given is very complex and property was also assigned to the extraced surface @MENUBAR>PROPERTIES>NEW ASSIGN.
- Meshing was carried out for the half of the given model after rectifying geometric errors @MENUBAR>TOOLS>CHECKS>GEOMETRY.
- All the given criterias were added @MENUBAR>QUALITY CRITERIA/MESH PARAMETERS.
- Switched to 'Classic Mesh' and used Mesh Generation, Elements and Shell Mesh for midsurface meshing.
- All the errors faced were rectified using Num+/-, Insert, Delete, Cut, Release, Paste, Best, Reconstruct, Smooth and Split.
- Mesh elements were transformed to the other half @TRANSFORM>COPY>SYMMETRY>FINISH.
- All the elements were released @ELEMENTS>RELEASE.
3. Screenshots
- CAD model exported @Sample 1.
- Geometric checks were solved and rectified sucessfully @Sample 2.
- Midplane extraction was done sucessfully and geometric checks were again done @Sample 3.
- Meshing was done upon the half of the given model @Sample 4.
- Mesh elements done were transformed to the other half @Sample 5.
- All done elements were released @Sample 6.
