Week 4 - 2D Meshing for Sheet Metal

Objective

  • Main objective is to take the midsurface of all the components after elemenating the geometric errors and to further proceeding with meshing the midsurface within the given quality criteria.

Procedures

  • CAD model was exported to ANSA and the geometric errors were checked and rectified. Used @MENUBAR>TOOLS>CHECKS>GEOMETRY and @TOPO>HOTPOINTS/FACES/CONS.
  • Midsurface extraction was done @FACES>MIDSURFACE>SKIN since the modelgiven is very complex and the property was also assigned to the extracted surface @MENUBAR>PROPERTIES>NEW ASSIGN.
  • All the given criteria were added @MENUBAR>QUALITY CRITERIA/MESH PARAMETERS.
  • Switched to 'Classic Mesh' and used Mesh Generation, Elements and Shell Mesh for midsurface meshing.
  • All the errors faced were rectified using Num+/-, Insert, Delete, Cut, Release, Paste, Reconstruct, Smooth and Split.
  • All the elements were released @ELEMENTS>RELEASE.

Screenshots

  • CAD model exported @Sample 1.
  • After midsurfacing done at each components sucessfully @Sample 2.
  • Meshed each given compenents sucessfully @Sample 3.
  • All the elements were released @Sample 4.
