Week - 8 - Morphing
OBJECTIVES :
- Performing the Morphing on the two models.
- Increasing the height of the Dog Houses and the Ribs of the 2nd model.
- Understanding the various Application of the Marphing in various industries.
Model 1
CAD model :

Procedure :
- Model is imported and the TOpo operation is performed on the model.

- Now in this model back side ribs height is 10 mm initially.
- After morphing the this height will bbe changed accourding to the user.

- For performing the morphing here , we have to create the new ortho Morph volume.

- By selecting the upper 4 nodes , the height of this part is increased to some height.
- The height change can be seen below as ,

- Then another ortho Morph volume is created at the step area of the part as.

- This area also changed in shape by using the move operation and moving the handles of the morph volume.

- Using the Direct Morph operation, we can perform some operation on the selected region directly on the model like translate area , rotate area , scale area, transform area etc.
- Some operation performed on the model can be seen below.
Translate : Scale :

- For the same part Ortho Morph Volume is created for the whole part and its then it;s divided into a small regions.

- Using the Move operation , the changed shape of the Model can be seen below,

Model 2
CAD model :

Procedure :
- Model is immported and checked fopr the geometrical error.
- No any geometrical error is found in the model.

- Then Ortho Morph Volume is created at every Dog Houses as,

- Before Morphing the Dog Houses , the Height of this resion can be seen bbelow,

- Then using the move operation , handles of the morph volumes are moved in order to change the Height of the DOg houses.
- Increased height of the Dog house can be seen below as ,

- In the same way, the Height of the other Dog houses are increased.

- For increasing the Height of the ribs , new Ortho Morph Volumes are created at every Ribs.
- Initial Height also can be seen below,

- After Morphing Operation the Height of the Ribs is increased ny some distance can be seen below,

MORPHING TECHNIQUE :
Morphing, meanwhile, is a geometric interpolation technique that produces intermediate forms between typically two extreme forms. Originally the morphing technology was invented as a method of working out the transformation process (interpolation) or to expect the future results (extrapolation) from satellite images of the earth's surface in the early 1960s.morphing technique has become a significant tool of computer-graphics animators by providing an effective means of producing a seamless sequence of forms. It is used to display a smooth transition between two models by inserting a sufficient number of interpolated models between them.
Morphing can be used for the Design optimization in various industries sprcially in Automotive industries. This technique would be undoubtedly useful in this process by offering a relatively painless method of generating a vast number of design alternatives rapidly.

Above Image shows an example of generating future/retrospective models (1971, 1975, 1987, and 1991) from existing two Honda Civic models (1979 and 1983) through extrapolation ( Morphing ).
Morphing is used in Aviation industries , for design optimization of the Aeroplanes and rockets morphing is very usefull.
