Week - 8 - Morphing

MORPHING technique using ANSA

AIM: Morph the component shape and elements size and shae using the morphing deck in ANSA.

PROCEDURE: We have two sheet metal components where we will change the element length and structure of total component will be changed using morphing deck. on 1st sheet metal component we change the length and shape of the total component using the box morphing method. And for 2nd component we change the length of the dog houses on the hand rest by usingthe same box morphing.

For first model we will perform the topo and join the cons together then we will start work on morphing.

To perform the morphing first we goto the morphing deck> if you are in the morphing deck thn on the right side bottom corner of work screen indicates that morphing active. Now in Boxes section > select new > select geometry & ortho/ min volume if elements are small. > now box select the elements you want to morph, after selection the morphing box will appear on the particular element these morphing ox can be moved along the control grids only

Now in box morphing section > select move & you can now morph the element as per requirement & in directon of required local co-ordinates.

After using the box morphing there will be small geometry error will get generated which was totally fine. After completing the morphing and getting the required shape we can delete the morph box using delete option in the boxes section.

For the second sheet metal model of hand rest we will change the height of the dog houses and other small volumes on the component using the same box morphing method.

we can change the shape not only with box morphing but also with direct morphing too, where we can rotate, shape change, and can work on any direction but for this challenge we are not using those method.

Learning outcomes:

  • Got to know how to use the morphing deck
  • Got familiar with usage of box morphing.
  • Learnt that on ANSA we can change the shape or design the components without designing from the scratch.

Conclusion: The given two sheet metal models were morphed as instructed using the box morphing method.
