Week 8 - Challenge 5 - Door Trim Lower
DOOR TRIM LOWER
NOTE- WHILE PERFORMING DRAFT ANALYSIS OF THE PART COMPONENT I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE IS A RED COLOR PATCH IN IT, AND THIS IS BECAUSE THERE IS A ISSUE IN THE INPUT CLASS A SURFACE. I HAVE ALSO CONSULTED WITH Ms. CHAITRA MAM IN MENTORING SESSION AND SHE HAD ALSO SAID THE SAME.

Generally, the part component that we design must be toolable or manufacturable. As we know that, some exterior and most interior parts of automotives are made of plastics. In that 80% of the plastic parts are manufactured by Injection molding. Injection molding have two halves- Core half and Cavity half, In which core half is movable and cavity half is fixed. To be manufacturable or toolable every face of the part component must clear the main tooling axis direction, there is an exception in which sidecores are used additionally if there are holes or slots present in the part component.Tooling axis direction is the direction in which the core half and cavity half opens.
There are three ways to find the tooling axis of a component-
1. X, Y, Z axis method
2. Normal to surface method
3. Bisecting method
The tooling axis direction of door trim lower is in the Y axis direction, I found out by using X, Y, Z axis method

Draft analysis-
The draft analysis is the technique that is used to analyze whether our part model that is created in catia part workbench is manufacturable based on the draft condition applied.
The minimum draft must be present in all faces of the part component to avoid damages between the part and mold that is caused by friction, when the ejection process takes place.
The nominal draft value is 3 degree, The minimum draft value that can be applied is 0.5 degree, The draft value for the part component like Instrumental panel is 7 degree
