Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 5 - Core & Cavity Design

1. Creation of core body. First, we define which side core comes from. This can be judged with help of projection and depression in the component.

the side which has projection will be used core and other as a cavity.

parting surface for the core can be created by Trimming class A and class C surfaces with class B as shown.

by extruding a rectangle along the tooling axis, trimming them with the parting surface, and filling the open surface, we will get a closed surface which is the core.

then it can be converted into a solid using a tool called closed surface in part workbench.

Similarly for cavity design, we use a class B surface along with the rectangular extrude, trimming, and filling the open surface.

then it can be converted into a solid using a tool called closed surface in part workbench.

Parting surface is the flat surface that splits the core and cavity along the tooling axis this can be created by intersecting class C surfaces and splitting them as shown.
