Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 4 - Bumper

AIM- The main aim of this challenge is to create a solid body of 'Bumper' with the help of the closed surface method by using the 'Generative shape design' workbench in CATIA V5. Performing the 'Draft Analysis' on the solid part body of the Door trim.

Tooling Axis- The tooling axis is created by taking a point on the surface of the given model.

Draft Analysis of Class-A Surface- The draft analysis off the Class A surface is carried out according to industrial norms which says a maximum 3 degree off draft is allowed. The given surface on draft analysis is showing green in colour which says that the draft angle is accurate.

Class B-Surface- The Class B surface is the offset surface of Class A which is 3 MM according to the given thickness. In the Class B surface all the patches and discontinuities carried out from class A it's been rectified by using sweep, multi section, join, fill and extrapolate commands. Once all the patches on the offset are covered properly join all the patches with the offset surface, to get the replicated surface of the class A surface.

Class C-Surface- In class C -Surface first of all, A-surface please taken out by using sweep command and boundary command then this procedure is repeated for the follow surface. Afterwards join command is used to create the joining of A and C surface. Intersection command is used to check the discontinuity of the surface once everything is good then the surface I trimmed with Class A surface. Hence the final output is obtained.

Creation of Closed Volume- The closed volume off the final output is created by inserting and by moving to part design workbench where we have close body command to create the closed body of the given surface.

Draft Analtsis of Closed Volume- The draft analysis off the closed body is carried out to check the draft is according to the OEM regulations.

Catia file and all screen shots id being attached along with the tree strutcher.
