Week 8 - Challenge 2 - Switch Bezel Design
AIM- To devlop the product design from the given Class A Surface of the Switch Bezel according to OEM standards.
Tooling Axis- The tooling axis is created in order to ensure the proper mould opening following. These is created by using bisecting method.
Draft Analysis- The draft analysis is done based on the tooling axis. This is to ensure accountable draft is there and the product is manufacturable with a mimal costing and good quality.
Class B-Surface- A surface below a certain thickness from the class-A surface is class-B surface. This is the surface that contains engineering aspects of a model.
For creating Class B Surface there are three geometrical sets used:-
-Top Surface- The top surface is created by using following commands:
- Extract
- Untrim
- Offset (2.5mm)
- Extrapolate
-Walls- These geometrical sets contains the feature of A surface having slanted wall, Created by using following commands:
- Extract
- Untrim
- Offset (2.5mm)
- Extrapolate
-Base- These geometrical set contains the feature of the A surface which connects the slanted walls downside, Created by using following commands:
- Extract
- Untrim
- Offset (2.5mm)
- Extrapolate
-Final Trim- These geometrical set basically contain trim command used for creation of class b surface, final output.
Class C-Surface- The surface that joins class-A and class-B surfaces is class-C surface.
These surface is created by using sweep, boundary, extrapolate, curve smooth and trim command.
Final Join- The geometrical set is used to join class A and C. Errors are fixed in these geometrical set as well. Afterwards Class B- Surface is used to creat the final output.
A body is created to make the final product as solid using closed surface command. Final draft analysis carried out for the product.
Catia Drawing and screenshots of all sort of analysis are attached. Tree contains all details.
