Week 8 - Challenge 3 - Coin Holder Design
NOTE: I have Attached the Report, Photos and CADpart in the Attachment
Week 8 - Challenge 2 - Coin Holder Design
AIM:
To Create the Coin Holder Design Plastic component through the given Class-A surface. Create the tooling axis for the given Class-A Surface by meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model.
OBJECTIVE:
- Tree Structure
- Ensure Proper Tree Structure
- Geometrical sets should have a proper name based on the sketches present inside of it
- All the sketches should be created under the Geometrical set
- Use the Close Surface feature to make a solid body from the surface.
- Publications: Use the publication option and publish the below
- Tooling Axis
- Class A, B, and C surface
- Report
- A detailed report should be done explaining the draft analysis and the tooling axis creation.
- An explanation should be given on the way of creating the tooling axis, particularly the Bisecting method.
SOFTWARE USED : CATIA
INPUT:
CAD DATA is downloaded and Opened with CATIA.

TOOLING AXIS:
Tooling axis is defined as such all the featres of the part can be manufactured easily. so here we followed the below steps to create the tooling axis.
- Extract the base and create point at the center of the surface. create axis system on the point.

- Draw a intersection with the z and y datum to class a surface.
- Sketch a line at bisecting the faces of it.

- Draw a intersection with the x and y datum to class a surface.
- Sketch a line at bisecting the faces of it.

- The lines of the sketches 1 and 2 are bisected to get the main toolin axis. (It is 90 degree)

DRAFT ANALYSIS:
- Draft is done on the Class A surface.
- Change it to material in customise view.
- Click the Draft analysis tool and click the surface and align the compass to tooling axis.
- 3 degree is the clearing angle
- So here is photo of cleared (Green) draft.

Class A Defect :
There is minor defect in the Class A that has 0 degree on the edge of the fillet. Eventhough i tired various tooling axis angle i cannot clear this minor edge. If i change the tooling axis other than this major important faces pf the part will be under 0 degree. And i am not authorised to change the Class A surface too. So kindly consider.

B SURFACE:
- B surface is created by using the given Class A surface
- For making it easier we create the faces in groups.
- Inside side walls.
- Extract the Inside side walls.

- Untrim the Extracted sides.

- Extrapolate the sides so that all the 4 faces touch eachother.

- Offset it to 2.5 mm Ouside

- Trim the faces and give fillets.

Base
- Faces are extracted from the class A

- The extracted faces are untrimmed

- The untrimmed faces are extrapolated for trimming accordingly

- It is trimmed as per the class A and offseted away from the class A.
- Requied fillets are given

Top wall
- Top wall faces are extracted

- It is extrapolated on both the sides after joining

- It is then offseted away from the class A for 2.5mm

Outer wall
- All the faces of the outer wall is extracted

- it is then joined and extrapolated as two parts

- It is then offseted within the class A 2.5mm

- Side walls and the top walls are trimmed to join

- Base and the wall is trimmed together.

- Outer wall is then trimmed with inside cup with reference to classs A.

- All the required fillets are given

C SURFACE:
- Class A boundry is taken.
- Sweep is done with reference to the boundry and the class A surface that forms 90 degree inwards.

FINAL PART:
- C Surface is trimmed splited with boundry and B surface
- Now join C surface , B surface and A surface.
- Thus the part is made

- Coin holder is made into closed body

DRAFT ANALYSIS:
- Draft is done on the Final Part.
- Change it to material in customise view.
- Click the Draft analysis tool and click the surface and align the compass to tooling axis.
- 3 degree is the clearing angle
- So here is photo of cleared (Green) draft.

Here are the photos of Coin holder
