Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 2 - Switch Bezel Design

Aim:

Create the SWITCH BEZEL plastic component by using the given Class A surface

Objectives :

-Create B and C surface for the given component.

-To form the TOOLING AXIS and capture the surface properly.

-Check for the Drafting Analysis with correct position of Axis.

Draft:

Draft angle is nothing but providing some tapered portion to the part for easy removal of the component from the mold during manufacturing. This is especially done in the case of plastic component design having a complex shape. Mostly the 3-degree draft angle is provided but it can vary depending upon the component which is to be designed.

In our case of Switch Bezel design, the draft angle is 3 degrees the draft analysis is done during the design of the component to check the feasibility of the product.

Before providing a draft angle we need to decide on the tooling axis also known as the molding axis considering the faces which can cause issues while manufacturing.

 TOOLING AXIS:

It is nothing but the direction in which the mould open and close the Draft Angle needed to be provided by the tooling axis.

We can create the tooling axis by using the Bisecting method.

CLASS A SURFACE

Class A surface is already given and by using that we should create Class B and Class C.

CLASS B SURFACE

The input of Class B surface from the output of Class A surface

CLASS B OPERATION:

By using the Extrapol and Boundary we can create the operation Class B which can be Join and make them to output of B

CLASS C SURFACE

Class C surface is the output of Class B surface.

Only by using that surface to with the huge process of creating Extrapol and Sweep them and make them to join as entire created sketches.

DRAFTING ANALYSIS :

Now finally we go with drafting analysis to complete the entire sketches and there is another one operation which is that the Close surface

CLOSE SURFACE :

The given sketch surface should be in close surface
