Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 1 - Draft Analysis on a Fan Cover

AIM -

Create a Tooling axis with help of line bisecting method and also perform the draft analysis.

Tooling Axis-

The axis where mold or core and cavity move is called tooling axis.In Molding machine arrangement is given to open the mold along a direction which is known as Tooling Direction. The mold is built from two separate halves (Core and Cavity) and tooling direction basically define the direction of mold pulls apart. Tooling direction is known as primary direction.

Draft Analysis-

The Draft Analysis command enables you to detect if the part you drafted will be easily removed. This type of analysis is performed based on color ranges identifying zones on the analyzed element where the deviation from the draft direction at any point, corresponds to specified values.

STEP 1- Check the continuty of the A surface by using of the join or boundary command

HERE the using of intersect command we can see the continuty of the surface

STEP #2

We check the direction of the tooling axis , we checking the x , y , z direction.

In x direction we required extra side core for hole and the side core increase the cast of the molding

process similar y direction also

But when we create axis in z direction then possible to mold with out any extra side core.

STEP #3

CREATING A TOOLING AXIS BY USING OF THE BISECTING METHODE

  • CREAT A DUMMY TOOLING AXIS
  • TAKE YZ PLANE INTERSECT
  • AND ANALIZE THE THE LINE WHICH IS CHANCE OF CRAETE PROBLEM
  • CREAT THE BISECTING LINE WITH HELP OF OTHER TWO LINE AND HIDE THE DUMMY LINE. ITS PROCESS DONE FOR BOTH YZ AND ZX PLANE .
  • BY USING OF THE ZX AND YZ BISECTING LINE CREATE MAIN TOOLING AXIS

STEP # 4

DRAFT ANALYSIS

  • FIRST ON THE MATARIAL SHADING MODE
  • SELECT THE A SURFACE AND SEE THE COLOR
  • GREEN COLOR SO THE ANGLE IS GREATER THE VALUE OF THE DRAFT
  • BLUE SHOW THE ANGLE B/W THE VALUE
  • RED SHOW THE ANGLE IS LOWER OR NEGATIVE
  • GET THE COMPASS ON THE TOOLING AXIS
  • AND ALLSO CHECK THE ANGLE IN DIFFERENT FACE
  • TRY TO FIXED BY CHANGE THE TOOLING DIRECTION AND ANGLE
