Challenge

Week 8-3D Tetra Meshing Challenge

Objectives: Create a tetramesh for Housing component with the following quality criteria.

Create a 3D tetramesh with the following quality criteria.

Procedure: For model one

  • Import the CAD model.
  • Check for geometry cleanup.
  • Initially mesh the model in 2D mesh (2D mesh>select surface>apply mesh size>element type trias >mesh).
  • Check 2D element size for max and min length and after that use tetra remesh for quality check .
  • After that we have to use 3D tetra mesh using 2D element (3D>tetra mesh>select element >and remesh).
  • After that check for tet collaps by given criteria (0.15). and remesh as per requirement.

For model two:

  • Import the CAD model.
  • Check for geometry cleanup.
  • As per the given in the challenge there is no max and min length criteria.
  • We have to use quick tetra/volume tetra mesh for the given component.
  • We have to follow this steps (3D> tetra mesh>volume tetra >set element size and tet collaps >mesh)
  • After that we have to check for tet collaps only and use tetra remesh for clear the tet collaps).

for model three :(turbocharger)

  • The same process we have to follow in the third model (turbo charger)

Note : In the turbo charger model there is an some issues , so that reason I cant able to complete the tetra mesh for some components.

1.supproting plate

I had discussed with one of our support engineer.

Learning outcomes:

Model 1 : In the model one we had learnt about how to do conversion od 2D elements in the 3D tetra mesh and how to do geometry cleanup and clear all the tet collaps issues in the elements.

Model 2,3: In this models I had learnt about how to do volume tetra mesh/quick tetra mesh.

Conclusion : finally I got 3D mesh by using the appropriate commands in the hypermesh for the given components with using given quality criteria.
