Geometry Morphing Using Ansa
Geometry Morphing Using Ansa
Aim: The challenge aims to morph the Geometry and the mesh using the Morphing option to show the design changes.
Procedure:
Step 1: The First Step is to go to the Morph Module and select Boxes-New-ortho and select the features that you want to Morph. Select the option Geometry for a Geometry and FE for Mesh.
Step 2: Once the Box has been formed select the Nodes you want to move and give the direction in which you want to morph the Geometry.
From the above image, you can see that the Y Direction has been selected and the geometry has been morphed in that direction.
Step 3: You can split the boxes using Boxes-Split to several smaller boxes to have better control over the Morphing feature and all the entities inside the boxes will have a connection. You can also split the smaller box to a separate box without any connection using Boxes-Release.
Step 4: We can also use the option Direct Morphing-Design-Position to change the shape of the Mesh. Select the Area you want to change.
For Example, we need to increase the depth of the punch to do that we can just select the surface you want to increase the depth. After that, we must select the Direction at which we need to morph the feature.
The above image shows the mesh that will get affected due to the morphing you can increase and decrease that using the "+" and "-" in the Neighbours.
From the above image, you can see that we have increased the depth by 5mm, and on another image, you can see how the feature has been changed.
Step 5: You can change the Diameter of a Hole using the option Direct Morphing- Holes. For this, you will have to select the Hole you want to change the Dia and give the New Diameter.
From the above images, you can see that we can control the Number of shell Zones affected during this process and on the other image the change in Diameter.
Learning Outcomes:
- How to change the Geometry using the Morphing Option.
- How to change the Mesh using the morphing tools.
- We can use the morphing option when we need to do some minor changes in the part like increasing the depth of punches and changing the Diameter of Holes so that we can avoid meshing a new part.
- We can also show the Design changes that impact the part in a Good way to the design team.
- Morph is used to improvise the Design in a more flexible way.
Conclusion:
The Given part was worked on using the Morphing option and some changes have been done to the Mesh and also to the Geometry.
