1. Simulate the 3 test cases from the harness dashboard and write a detailed report on the results.

2. What is coulomb counting? Refer to the above model and explain how BMS implements coulomb counting for SOC estimation?

Solution:

Step1: Download the zip reference Model which is mentioned in the question from the link provided and unzip it.

Step 2: in that zip file there are two models based on the MATLAB version R2019b & R2020a

like my MATLAB version is 2020a so I am using the Battery_System_R2020a.zip files. You can use it accordingly.

Step 3: Extract the file and open the project from the folder: BatteryManagementSystem\Tests\System

Task 1: Simulate the 3 test cases from the harness dashboard and write a detailed report on the results

We have to test the 3 cases for the model by selecting test sequence variants and select the cases one by one:

Test Case 1:

In Test Harness: BMS_ClosedLoop_Harness_Dashboard you will see a Test Sequence Variant Subsystem block,

just double-click that block you will get a pop-up to select the cases.

After selecting the Test case, click ok and cross verify the selection in the BMS_StateRequest block

Double click on the block to open it.

you will the fine the TestSequence1 is Highlighted from the rest of the options.

This test case consists of the following sequence operations:

Driving for first 3000sec.
After 3000sec, for the next 1000sec, it will balance the battery.
Then for the next 5000sec, it will be charging and be balancing the battery.
After that, till the end of the simulation, it will Post Charge Balance the battery.
