Week 7- Meshing of Backdoor Challenge
OBJECTIVE
- To mesh the backdoor geometry of a car with given quality parameters. that you have to follow.
PROCEDURE
- Geommetry was imported @IMPORT>FILES>IMPORT>GEOMETRY>ALL>IMPORT.
- Delete solids @DELETE>SOLIDS>SOLIDS>ALL/DISPLAYED>OK>DELETE ENTITY.
- Only half of the model is used initially for modelling.
- Midsurface was extracted using @GEOMETRY>MIDSURFACE>AUTO-EXTRACTION>SURF.>ALL>EXTRACT>OK.
- Auto-cleanup was performed before meshing @GEOMETRY>AUTOCLEANUP>EDIT>CRITERIA>SURF.>ALL>SELECT>AUTOCLEANUP.
- Washer split was assigned for open phases in the model @GEOMETRY>QUICK EDIT>WASHER SPLIT>OFFSET '5'>LINES>SELECT>OK.
- Then mesh was deployed using @2D>AUTOMESH>SURF.>MIXED>MESH and also used @2D>SMOOTH>ELEMENTS>ALL>ITERATION (1000)>SMOOTH.
- After meshing quality index criteria was applied using @2D>QUALITY INDEX>PAGE 4>EDIT CRITERIA>INPUT VALUES>APPLY>OK.
- Cleanup tools were used at quality index for modification of elements.
- Elements were projected to the surface using @TOOLS>PROJECT>TO SURFACE>select ELEMENTS>select SURFACE>PROJECT.
- The other half was reflected using @TOOLS>REFLECT>ELEMENTS>DUPLICATE>select nodes>REFLECT.
- 'Edges' were checked and 'Equvi' was applied and also @TOOLS>NORMALS>DISPLAY>ADJUST.
- Then, geometry was 'Exported' @FILE>EXPORT>choose file>rename as needed>EXPORT.
SCREENSHOTS
- @Sample 1, Imported the geometry.
- @Sample 2, Extracted midsurface for meshing for half of the given model.
- @Sample 3, Meshing was done on the midsurface and was reflected.
- @Sample 4, Given Quality Criteria and edges were checked.
- @Sample 5, Exported final model.
Faced a little lag as i was not able to access my account for 2 days due to login OTP issues.
