Week 7-Long Piston With Cam
Report 7 Long Piston With Cam
Aim: Perform a transient analysis on a piston and cam mechanism model. Run the analysis with Frictionless contact, Frictional with 0.1 and 0.2 as the frictional contact for a total of 3 cases. Find out the Equivalent Stress, Directional Deformation and Equivalent Elastic Strain and compare them for all the three cases. Give an inference as to why the results vary between cases.

Conclusion:
| case | Max directional deformation | Max v-m Stress | Max v-m Strain |
| 1 | 10.881 | 1331.8 | 0.006736 |
| 2 | 10.977 | 1492.5 | 0.007546 |
| 3 | 11.086 | 1788.7 | 0.0090202 |
Compared results from 3 cases, the total directional deformation Y axis are the same. As the coefficient of friction increase, the value of Max directional deformation, Max v-m Stress and Max v-m Strain are also increased. The reason is that coefficient of friction increased the frictional resistence to motion.
