Week 7-Long Piston With Cam
AIM:
To perform the cam and follower simulation and obtain the results for frictional and frictionless contact.
METHODOLOGY:
- Import the geometry and assign the material to the components from the engineering data.
- give the frictionless contscts wherever necessary

- givethe fixed joint to the barrel and revolute joint to the barrel cam followed by translational joint to the barrel and follower.

- mesh the geometry and perform face sizing operation.

- perform the analysis in 9 steps and give the joint rotation to the barrel cam.

- run the simulation and obtain the reqiured results and follow the same procedure for frictional contacts.
RESULTS:
CASE 1:

CASE 2:
friction coefficient=0.1

Tabular data:
| case | directional deformation(mm) | equivalent stress(Mpa) | equivalent strain |
| 1 | 20.442 | 7494.7 | 0.03763 |
| 2 | 20.442 | 7936.4 | 0.03985 |
CONCLUSION:
Due to the friction coefficient the frictional force develops between the surfaces that are in motion which results in increase in stress in the components.
