Week 2 Bevel Gear Challenge
GRID DEPENDENCY TEST:
Grid dependency test is a method for determining the optimum mesh size for an entity in order to get the accurate result and beyond which the results show the same values or precise.
OBJECTIVE:
To analyse the bevel gear and perform the grid dependency test for 3 different mesh size and compare the results.
METHODOLOGY:
- First the geometry is imported and edited in the spaice claim.
- the unwanted part of the geometry is removed which is of no interest.

- material is assaigned to the bevel gear geometry and frictional contact is defined between the two faces of the gears which will contact each other.
- the revolute joints are given to the each gear .

- the global mesh size was kept 4mm and face sizing of 1.75mm was given to the faces of the gears which are in contact.

- the analysis was performed in 6 steps and the min time step of 0.005s and max time step of 1s was given for each step.

- the joint loads of rotation and moment for each step were given to small gear and big gear.

- the solution was converged and resutls for each mesh size were found.
FOR 4mm MESH:

FOR 5mm MESH:

FOR 6mm MESH:

| CASE | Mesh size | Equivalent stress(Mpa) | Equivalent strain | Total deformation(mm) |
| 1 | 4mm | 4.0933 | 2.746e-5 | 47.882 |
| 2 | 5mm | 2.773 | 1.824e-5 | 47.882 |
| 3 | 6mm | 4.459 | 2.733e-5 | 47.882 |
