Week 7-Long Piston With Cam
OBJECTIVE:-
We have to perform a transient analysis on a piston and cam mechanism model that has been provided need to run the analysis with Frictionless contact, Frictional with 0.1 and 0.2 as the frictional contact for a total of 3 cases.
CASE SETUP AND EXECUTION:-
1. First open the Ansys workbench.
2. Go to toolbox select the analysis system and double click on the transient structural it opens a new tab on the graphical area as shown below.

3. Next click on the engineering data select the required material.
4. Next import the geometry in geometry.
5. Right-click on the geometry and click on the edit space claim it opens the new space claim tab as shown below.
6. Check the geometry it is fine to leave it or any error in the geometry fix them.
7. Next go to the model click on the edit mechanical model it opens a new tab as shown below.

RESULT OF CASE 1:-
DIRECTIONAL DEFORMATION

EQUIVALENT STRESS

EQUIVALENT ELASTIC STRAIN

RESULT FOR CASE2:-

EQUIVALENT ELASTIC STRAIN

RESULT FOR CASE3:-
FRICTIONAL CONTACT 0.2

EQUIVALENT ELASTIC STRAIN

COMPARISON
| CASES | DITRECTIONAL DEFORMATION |
EQUIVALENT STRESS (MPA) |
EQUIVALENT STRAIN (MPA) |
| CASE1 | 50.8 | 410.17 | 0.0020668 |
| CASE2 | 50.8 | 527.6 | 0.002661 |
| CASE3 | 50.8 | 725.06 | 0.0037473 |
CONCLUSION:-
On observation, case1 gives the best result compared to the remaining cases due to the absence of friction. so the coefficient of friction increases the stress and strain also increases
