Challenge

Week 7-Long Piston With Cam

Objective:

To find Equivalent Stress, Directional Deformation and Equivalent Elastic Strain of the piston and cam mechanism model by the transient analysis with 3 different cases.

Material used:

Stuctural Steel

Case 1:

Frictionless contact

Equivalent stress:

The maximum stress in the Frictionless contact is 990Mpa

Directional Deformation:

The total deformation in the frictionless contact is 10.6 mm

Equivalent Strain:

The total strain in the frictionless contact is 0.005

Case 2:

0.1 Frictional contact

Equivalent stress:

The maximum stress in the 0.1 Frictional contact is 1108Mpa

Total Deformation:

The maximum deformation in the 0.1 Frictional contact is 35.9mm

Equivalent Strain:

The maximum strain in the 0.1 Frictional contact is 0.005

case 3:

0.2 Frictional contact

Equivalent Stress:

The maximum stress in the 0.2 Frictional contact is 1286Mpa

Total Deformation:

The maximum Deformation in the 0.2 Frictional contact is 36mm

Equivalent Strain:

The maximum strain in the 0.1 Frictional contact is 0.006

Conclusion:

When comparing to the three cases 0.2 frictional coefficient stress and deformation results are very high compared to other two cases. Strain is remains constant in all the results.
