Week 7- Base Unit Design Challenges 2
Design of Base Unit:
A base unit is designed to mount all other units(Clamp unit, pin unit, rest unit, etc) of the tool. Other parts necessary for a tool like a Pneumatic valve box, and trunking cable path will also be mounted onto a base unit. And below are some parts of a base unit in general.
A base plate is designed to hold all the pins and clamp units and the dimensions of these base plates are determined by the space requirement of clamps and pins.
Then square tubes were welded adding extra strength to the base plate and base supports were added at the joints.
