Week 6-Meshing of Hood Challenge

Objective: Generating midsurface and doing geometry cleanup. To mesh the surface and satisfy the given quality criteria.

Procedure:

1. Latch reinforcement:

1. Delete the solid and generate auto midsurface
2. Change the element criteria as per the given problem (Preferences - Criterial file settings)
3. Change the element parameter (Preferences - Parameter file settings)
4. Toggle the unwanted edges and do autocleanup on the to surface

1. Automesh with 5 element size and rebuild the mesh to attain better mesh quality

2. Hinge reinforcement:

1. Delete the solid and generate auto midsurface
2. Toggle the unwanted edges and do autocleanup on the to surface

3. Outer extract:

1. Delete the solid and generate auto midsurface
2. Delete the symmetric surfaces
3. Toggle the unwanted edges and do autocleanup on the to surface

1. Automesh with 5 element size and rebuild the mesh to attain better mesh quality
2. Mirror the elements to attain elements on the entire geometry (Tools - reflect - elements - displayed - duplicate - select y direction and middle point as base node - maintain z axis - reflect)
3. Stitch the reflected elements ( Tools - edges - elements - set tolerance - preview equivalence - equivalence)

4. Inner extract:

1. Delete the solid and generate auto midsurface
2. Delete the symmetric surfaces
3. Toggle the unwanted edges and do autocleanup on the to surface

• Automesh with 5 element size and rebuild the mesh to attain better mesh quality
• Mirror the elements to attain elements on the entire geometry (Tools - reflect - elements - displayed - duplicate - select y direction and middle point as base node - maintain z axis - reflect)
• Stitch the reflected elements ( Tools - edges - elements - set tolerance - preview equivalence - equivalence)

Result: The given component has been meshed with the given parameters.
