Week 6-Meshing of Hood Challenge
Aim:
Create the mid surface and mesh the given Hood components and clear the quality criteria.
Given data:
Follow the below-mentioned quality criteria, mesh the component given below and assign thickness:
Target Element Length = 5 Units
| S.N | Quality Criteria | Value |
| 1 | Aspect Ratio | 5 |
| 2 | Skewness | 45 |
| 3 | Warping | 15 |
| 4 | Taper | 0.5 |
| 5 | Min. Length | 2 Units |
| 6 | Max. Length | 8 Units |
| 7 | Min angle Quad | 45 |
| 8 | Max angle Quad | 135 |
| 9 | Min angle Tria | 20 |
| 10 | Max angle Tria | 120 |
| 10 | Tria % | 10 |
Given CAD:

Procedure:
¬ Initially import the geometry into Hypermeash.
¬After that delete the solid parts.
¬ Then going to extract mid surface using autoextract method the Hood components.
Inner part:

¬ Now got o extract the mid suface for inner part.

¬ This extract midsurface for inner part.
¬ This is symetry components, so delete half portion.
Extracting the mid surface other parts:
Outer part mid surface :

Hinge part midsurface:

Latch part midsurface:

Meshing :
¬ Now going to mesh the components one by one .
¬ Start meshing closed area less free edged.
¬ Keep good mesh flow and less tria element.
¬ Take target element value as 5mm.
Inner part:

Outer part:

¬ Same procedure to the remaining parts.

Reflect:
¬ Then now use reflect option to symmetry the remaing half portion.
¬ Go to Tools - refelect - select element - displayed and take duplicate it.
¬ Then choose the N1 and N2 point where you want to reflect.

¬ join the two syemtry portion
¬ Go to tools - edges -window select- two joining area.
¬ select prev eqiv and select equivlance.
¬ Reflected parts are joined.
Mesh Result:
¬ In this clearing the quality issues.
¬ complete the mesh good or not depends upon quality issue as given in question.

¬ Clear all the quality errors .
¬ Using the 2D - quality index option.

Final components:

Conclusion:
¬ Learn to midsurface extraction and geometry clean up.
¬ Learn to split the area and meshing.
¬ learn to clear quality issues.
¬ Learn to Assign the geometry.
