Week 6-Meshing of Hood Challenge

OBJECTIVE

In this project we need to Generate Midsurface and geometry clean up on the given Hood components. Also Generating mesh on the given component with low tria concentration and proper mesh flow and Your model should pass all the given quality parameters

S.N Quality Criteria Value
1 Aspect Ratio 5
2 Skewness 45
3 Warping 15
4 Taper 0.5
5 Min. Length 2 Units
6 Max. Length 8 Units
7 Min angle Quad 45
8 Max angle Quad 135
9 Min angle Tria 20
10 Max angle Tria 120
10 Tria % 10

GIVEN

  • The hood components are divided into four components:

i)Inner

ii)Outer

iii)Latch

iv)Hinge

1

Inner Component Outer Component

HINGE COMPONENT

LATCH COMPONENT

PROCEDURE

1. Inorder to have good mesh in the component, midsurface the components seperately.

2. For that take one component seperately, midsurface it completely by selecting the surfaces attatched.

3.Auto cleanup the complete surface.

4.Then go for automeshing of 2D elements. Take element size as 5mm.

6.Select all the surface attatched and mesh it.

7.Minimize the tria elements for good mesh.

8.In this we must follow the quality criteria given.

9.Next step is geometry cleanup .In this we need to set parameters to given values.

10. Parameters such as wrapage, aspect ratio, taper, min and max tria angle, max and min quad angle , jacobian etc for a better geometry clenup.

11. Go to quality criteria and we can see the failed elements . We can repair it my tools such as element optimization, replace ,place nodes, drag tria elements, split and combine quad and tria elements etc.

12.We can check element criteria in tools where we can get a number of elements need to be repaired.

13.Minimize the errors and obtain a good mesh of components.

14.Similarly repeat the above procedurs for the rest of the components.

Conclusion

  • Generate Midsurface and geometry clean up on the given Hood components is reached and done properly.
  • Also Generating mesh on the given component with low tria concentration and proper mesh flow is done.
  • Model pass all the given quality parameters.
