Week 6-Introduction to Ansys ACT Challenge

Objective:- Introduction to Ansys ACT Challenge

Solution Procedure:-

1. Answer the questions:

  • What is an API?

API stands for Ansys Customization ACT, which is used to automate a repetitive task.

It integrates with the external process and codes.

It is an application program interface(API) is a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications.

An API specifies how software components should interact.

  • What are binary and Scripted Extensions?

Binary extensions are that are compiled into WBEx files, It can be shared with users who can execute the extension. The user cannot edit and view the contents of the compiled WBEX file. They are basically provided by the developer to the user and use a WBEX file.

Scripted Extension consists of an XML extension definition file and an Iron Python Script. It can also include the supporting files as custom helps or input files. They are used during the development phase usually made of XML and IronPython functions.

2. Perform the following

  • Install the given scripted extensions
  • Delete GUID from the given scripted extension and try to install it, read the log file.
  • From the scripted extensions, create Binary extensions and install them in the workbench
