Week 6 Fuel cell powered vehicle model
Aim:
To Make a MATLAB model of fuel cell powered electric vehicle and comment on results.
Description:

* A fuel cell vehicle (FCV) or fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) is an Electric Vehicle that uses a fuel cell, sometimes in combination with a small battery or supercapactor, to power its onboard electric motor.
* Fuel cells in vehicles generate electricity generally using Oxygen from the air and Compressed Hydrogen. Most fuel cell vehicles are classified as zero emission vehicles that emit only water and heat.
* As compared with internal combustion vehicles, hydrogen vehicles centralize pollutants at the site of the hydrogen production, where hydrogen is typically derived from reformed natural gas.
List of Fuel Cell Vehicles:
* Toyota Mirai
* Honda Clarity
* Audi H-Tron
* Mercedes Benz GLC F-Cell
* Pinnfarina H2 Speed
* Ford E350 fuel cell
Overall Cell Reaction:
H2 + (1/2)O2 = H2O
Simulink Model:

* The given model is with 45V DC nominal voltage and nominal power of 6 KW.
* The converter is loaded with an RL element of 6 KW with a time constant of 1 second.
* For first 10 sec, the utilization of hydrogen is 99.56%, After 10 sec, the rate of flow is varied between 0 and 90 lpm in order to observe the variation in stack voltage, affect the stack efficiency, air-fuel consumption.
Ramp:

The ramp block generates the signal, that starts the specified time and value and changes by a specified rate.
The block's slope, start time and initial output parameters determine the output of the signal.

Saturation:

The Saturation Block produces an output signal that has value of the input signal bounded to the upper and lower saturation values, are specified by parameters.

Fuel Cell Stack:

This Implements generic Hydrogen fuel cell model which allows the simulation of the following types of cells.
-Proton Exchange Fuel cell
-Solid Oxide Fuel cell
-Alkaline Fuel Cell

Flow Rate Indicator:

DC/DC Converter:

Scope:

* The fuel flow keeps on increasing the fuel rate varies that depends on the drive cycle is maximum value of flow rate is 80.
* The utilization of H2 is constant throughout the cycle is high during the start of the vehicle the utilization of O2 and H2 is 60 after sometime.
* The stack efficiency decreases during the startwhere the fuel consumption is high and the efficiency becomes constant and reaches 40% during the end of the cycle.
Conclusion:
The Making of a MATLAB model of fuel cell powered electric vehicle and comment on results has been analysed.
