Week 6 - Creating connection for Rear door

Report for week 6

Provide Aim: create proper connections on rear door mesh model.

Procedure: There are several kinds of connections I uesd in this model.

Bolt: use 2 or 3 many node rbe2s and one or two 2 node reb to connect 2 or 3 shell elements. There are no degree of freedom.

Hinge: use cluster rbe2 to connect, there is a degree of freedom that can rotate in Z direction.

Door handle: create 2 rbe2 connections and create a cmass in the middle.

Spot weld: create a COG, convert it to spot weld to make connection.

Glass, weather strip:

Create curve from FE, convert it to spot line, create rbe3-hexa connection.

Learning Outcomes: I have learnt how to build different connection in this session. For example, fixed bolt connection use bolt/rbe2 connection. For motion mechanism, use cluster rbe2 connection. For door handle, use cmass. For weather strip, use rbe3-hexa to connect glass and car body.

Conclusion:The point of this session is to learn how to create different connections in different situation. Need good understanding of system structure and machanism. Need more practice also.
