Challenge

Week 6:- Clamp Unit & Pin-Clamp Unit Design Challenge

3-2-1 Principle:

The 3-2-1 methode is a work holding principle where 3pins are located in first principal plane i.e either XY,YZ,ZX and 2pins are located on the 2nd plane which are perpendicular to the first plane and atleast one pin on the plane which is mutually perpendicular to the 1st & 2nd planes. The ultimate goal to constraint the movement of thee workpiece along all the three axis.

Round locating pin:

To add this pin in hole location to restrict axial movement of two perpendicular axis. Thus restric four degrees of freedom.

CLAMP UNIT:

Clamp unit is a unit design to hold car panel with Clamp mylar/Rest myler/NC Block by a pneumatic cylinder. In clamp unit to provide shim in one side it is enough because it restricts translational motion in upward and downard direction only. There is another type of clamp unit called swevwe type .There is pivot pin around which clamp arm rotate.

Clamp cylinder(Standard part):

Generally it is a standard part and designated as CKG_1B_63_100Y.

CKG1: Stands for cylinder series

B: Clevis width as 19.5mm

63: Bore size.

100: Stroke of cylinder.

Y: End brack i.e double knuckle joint.

Designed Parts:

Factors should considered while designing clamp unit:

-There shoulld be adequate space between the cylinder and another parts like Riser,Blade,Car panel. So that cylinder can move or swing while open and close condition.

-Pin clamp unit used where two panels and components are located to weld.

-Clamping make in such a way that it clamps two car panel at once.

-All parts should snap and butt properly each other.

-Avoid or make sure that there is no any clash so that it will not arise issue in assembly.
