Week 6 Challenge

1) Aim and Introduction -

Calculate the Pipe loads for the bridge shown in figure The width of bridge is 3m. The bridge is located in the banks of river narmada. Two pipes are proposed on the bridge with one being 700 dia NB DI pipe and the other one being 200 dia NB DI pipe. The length of the bridge is 24m. Apply the calculated pipe load in Staad.pro

2) Loading details -

As per schedule of members weight of 24 mtr steel bridge

i) Total member a weight - (9 nos x 0.254 Mt) +( 2*0.213 Mt)+(4*0.25*0.085 Mt) = 2.797 MT

ii) Total member b weight - 9*3*37.3 = 1.007 MT

iii) Total Member c weight - 24*2nos *22.3 = 1.07 MT

iv) Total member d weight - (2*24*10.8)+(16*4.24*10.8) = 1.251 MTx2= 2.502MT

v) Total member f weight - (16*3*5.8*2)= 0.557 MT

vi) Total member g weight - (16*3.354*4.5*2)= 0.483 MT

Vii) Total member h weight - (24*9.6*2)= 0.460 MT

Viii) Total Weight of 8 mm plate - 24*3*0.008*7.85 = 4.52 MT

Total Self weight of structure = 17.916 MT

Fixed support given to all four foundation

UDl load of 700 NB & 200 NB Dia GI pipe applied on structure.
