Week 6
Objective
The given rear door model is connected using various connection techniques.
Procedure
1. the model is inputted into ANSA and checked.
Bolt connections
2. Now wherever required, the bolt connections are made by creating a CG point and converting it into bolt connection using the convert option.
3. Now click on the connection manager and select this bolt icon. In the place of P1 and P2 select the associated components and from the FE REP TYPE option select the BOLT option.
4. Play with the Zones option and under bodies make sure all the DOFs are mentioned.
5. Now, click on Realize to apply the bolt connection. You can see the rigid bodies with the stem in it.
6. By using the same above method, all the bolt connections are provided.
Handle Bar
7. The handle bar is represented as rigid body itself. Go to NAS and select the RBE2 elements option and select all the elements around using the Loop option
8. After creating the rigid bodies, use the RBE2 option of 2 nodes to create a main rigid body using which the mass can be given.
9. As marked in the above image, on its master node, the mass is added and the mass value is inputted.
Bushings
10. the bushings are created for the glass using the CBUSH option.
11. to create the connection, create a curve in all the sides of the glass. Use the convert option to convert that into seam line.
12. Then connection manager is used and the seam line is selected. The two parts are selected using the P1, P2. The FE REP TYPE is changed it to RBE3-CBUSH-RBE3 to create the bushings.
13. The search distance is provided and the RBE3 pinflags is checked whether all the DOFs are given. To give the ID, a PBUSH property is created. the property of bushing is inputted using the K1, K2 K3, K4, K5 and K6.
14. Click on the realize option to create a bushings around the glass. The bushings are created for both the glasses.
Seam Weld
15. As usual for some places, the seam weld needed to be created. A curve is created and converted into seam line.
16. the components are inputted in P1, P2. The FE REP TYPE is selected as overlap shell. the search distance is given as 10, the base sheet can be of anything and the root shells are given as double row to create two rows of weldments.
Spot Welds
17. The spot welds are created using the RBE3-HEXA-RBE3 option. The pinflags are checked and the parts are defined.
18. at the required places, normal RBE2 elements are used to fix the components.
Conclusion
The model is connected using the spot weld, seam weld, bushings and bolt connections.
