Week - 2 - Explicit and Implicit Analysis
Objective:
To solve the given general equation using both explicit and implicit time methods.
Observation
- the residual in the explicit keeps increasing and also the internal and external forces are not equal in all the steps.
- The residual in the implicit is very less and the internal and external forces are equal/less in all the steps.
- From the above statement one can say that explicit cannot be used at all, but when the same value is plotted as a graphs, one can able to see that explicit methods and exact solution will be in the same line at very small displacements but it starts to drift as the iterations increases for a prolonged time.
- Hence, this is the reason why explicit analyses are preferred in terms very short time period problems and implicit is preferred for prolonged time setup.
- This makes it very clear that implicit is unconditionably stable and explicit might get away from its intended results.
Conclusion:
The solving is carried out successfully.
