Week 4
Objective
The given bottle cap model needed to be midsurfaced and meshed.
Procedure
1. the given model is imported into ANSA.
2. The geometry is checked using geometry check and the thickness is measured in the model
3. The model has some fillets in the model, to remove all the fillets, DACH option is used to remove the fillets. In the DACH option, the min and max radius values are inputted, the ANSA automatically detects the fillets within the range
4. Now based on the measurement taken, the surface is offsetted and PIDs are set.
5. Now there are threads in the model, to capture the threads, a curve is created around it. A point is created in between and based on the point, the curve is created as shown below.
6. This particular curve is created and projected on the midsurface of the model. Using the projected line and the curve, a new face is created, this depicts the threads in the model.
7. The ribs in the model are created using the middle option.
8. The same goes for the small extrusions, a curve is created and based on the curves, a new surface is created. This surface is rotated around the whole model using the transform option.
9. Now once after offsetting all the surfaces, all the surfaces are pasted, to make sure all the geometry is fixed a geometry check is conducted and if there are any issues those are fixed. All the surfaces are attached and midsurface is properly attached.
10. Now based on the surfaces, the mesh is generated on the model and the surfaces are properly cut to make sure the mesh flow is there.
11. Now it is changed to hidden mode to check for any off elements and if there are any, then remeshed and improved.
Conclusion
The given plastic component is meshed.
