Week- 5 - Solid meshing
Week-5 Challenge Report
Aim: 3D Meshing of Rear View Mirror
Procedure:
Geometry downloaded from the Challenge section.
Import of Geometry from the downloaded folder to ANSA GUI.
Cons resolution carried out with respect to perimeter and macros to get proper resolution of geometry.
Connectivity is checked with the help of Topo.
Orientation is done for the surface preference.
Checks geometry is performed to detect faults, if any faults detected it is corrected automatically or manually as well.
Measure option is used to measure distance between cons.
Geometry cleanup is carried out by removing unwanted hot points, construction lines, cons failing from minimum before 2D meshing.
Quality Criteria, mesh parameters, perimeters length, element type are entered respectively. Now, Best mesh is done on the flat surface with tria elements, for curved surfaces ortho tria elements used for meshing.
Quality failures are verified for any off and if present it is corrected to null.
Pre volume checks is done using penetration and intersections for any faults and also related to single, double and triple cons.
Volume Definition is done by using Volume mesh Define option by selection of visible option.
Generation of 3D mesh is carried out by unstructured mesh, tetra rapid, volumes and geometry is converted from 2D to 3D mesh.
Conclusion:
Every step in performing the meshing from 2D to 3D need to do carefully in order to prevent unwanted errors and wastage of time in trial and error method.
In case of geometry with multiple PID the above operations mentioned above need to individually on each PID.
One must be aware of the reason or logic behind every step is performed, practice plays an important role to gain speed and momentum in performing work.
