Challenge

Week - 4 - 2D meshing for Plastic components

Week-4 Challenge report.

Aim:2D Meshing for Plastic Components.

Procedure:

Download and import model from Challenges to ANSA GUI.

Perform cons resolution for refined geometry.

Do TOPO on the geometry if connectivity is needed

Do orient for the faces to get normal direction.

Checks for geometry for any errors and warnings, if found fix the errors.

Measure to determine the thickness of the component.

Extract midsurface for the geometry with the help of Faces>Offset, Middle. Curves>middle, etc. respectively.

Assign PIDs to each and every midsurface created.

Carry out geometry cleanup for unwanted hot points, construction lines.

Apply the Quality criteria and target element length as provided for meshing.

Use Best mesh to do meshing.

Check for the off elements and carry out required steps like reconstruction, smooth, fix quality to obtain better mesh flow.

Note: Due to attachments of features with triple cons very near to each other and some features with space less than that of minimum, the off elements cannot be fixed further, it will be present in the model.

Conclusion: Follow the procedure to save time.

Carry out mid faces by faces.

Mesh the geometry area by area.
