Week 5 Challenge : Surface wrap on Automotive Assembly

Objective: To wrap the assembled parts (engine, transmission and gearbox)

Target length = 3mm

Procedure:

First, the model is loaded into ANSA.

Unwanted surface is removed without affecting the appearance of the geometries.

Individual drawbacks are primarily resolved here, as this would negatively affect surface wrapping.

Once the geometry is stripped of unwanted faces, it is resolved.

All three geometries are then joined to form the required system.

Constant length 3mm surface wrapper is selected from the web interface.

Then it is given a name and the required parts (all) are selected and the start button is pressed to start wrapping the surface..

Geometry Clean up:

Delete surfaces attached to the outside surfaces.

2. Open the transmission model in ansa.

Perform geometry clean-up

3. Open gear in ansa.

Perform geometry clean-up

Merge all 3 models.

Open Engine part.

File -->Merge--> select transmission

File--> Merge--> Gear

Fill all the remaining holes which affect surface wrap

• Go to Classic Mesh > Element > Wrap > Constant Length.
• Double click on 'Constant wrap Octree' > parameters >
• Castellation - Give target length 3mm

• '

• Enable Nodes out of structures and Assign properties from structure.

• Provide Any name like 'Full-Wrap' and click on 'OK'

• Now i cancel this pop-up window and Click on properties and we can see the properties and delete the unnecessary PID's by using the COMPRESS tool.

• The one pop-up window will open and hit on RUN button.

• Then the below model is coming out.

RESULTS

Conclusion:

1. Surface wrapping completed successfully for the given parts.

2. The surface coil is effective for external flow simulations where the volume between the body and the wind tunnel must flow over the body.

3. The surface is easier to implement because it does not depend on the quality of the wrapping of each material because we do not care about body physics.

4. Effective surface winding is achieved by a concrete body with a mesh length of 3 mm..
