Week 5 Challenge : Surface wrap on Automotive Assembly
Project:
Aim: To Merge all 3 models and perform surface wrap.
Objective:
- To perform geometry cleanup for all 3 models individually.
- To merge all 3 models together.
- To perform surface wrap on compounded model with 3 mm of target length.
- To study the surface wrap.
Procedure:
1. Geometry cleanup:
- Geometry cleanup of engine model:
- Download the model and open it in ansa gui.
- study the model.
- perform topo.
- delete unnecessary entities.
- create required surfaces.
- try to make model free from single cons.
- reduce tripple cons as much as possible.
- perform topo.
- check needle faces.
- repeat same procedure for other 2 models.
2. Merging all 3 models:
- opened cleaned engine model in new GUI.
- then used File - merge - d - ansa - transmission.1
- and then selected auto fit model and merge parts.
- with 0 offset.

- repeated same procedure and merge gear box to existing model.
- all three merged parts as shown

3.Surface wrap:
- selected mesh deck
- mesh deck - elements - Wrap (constant)
- then status - parameters - named as full_mesh and target length as 3 mm - ok.
- opened PId manager - deleted unnecessary PIDs using compress tool.
- then contents - moved all PIDs to octree scenario - ok.
- then run the wrap and got the wraped model.
- then studied the model and check from inside as its look one volume from inside.
Result and conclusion: All 3 models merged together and performed surface wrap on it with desired target length. The final model is attached below.
