Week 5 Challenge : Surface wrap on Automotive Assembly
SURFACE WRAP ON AUTOMOTIVE ASSEMBLY
PROBLEM STATEMENT :
For the given Engine, Gearbox, Transmission models, check for the geometrical errors and delete surfaces which are unwanted for Surface wrap . After clearing geometry, Merge all 3 models and perform surface wrap with Target length for Wrap = 3 mm .
AIM :
To perform the Geometry cleanup of engine , gearbox, transmission model and to merge the models for surface wrap of total assembly. Given Target length for Wrap = 3mm.
PROCEDURE :
1. Import all the models to ANSA GUI separately.

Fig : given Gearbox model

Fig : given Transmiision model
2. Firstly diagnosis of the geometry must be done for any unwanted surfaces like fillets , rings etc present on the surface of the geometry or inside must be removed in all the models .

Fig : Unwanted surfaces present in the geometry
3. After the geometry cleaning the holes present in the geometry must be filled as it may create error while wrapping the surfaces .

Fig : Filled holes
4. After filling all the holes the model should be combied to create a final assembly inorder to wrap the geometry .

Fig : Final Automotive assembly
5. Before wrapping of the geometry the unwanted or deleted PIDs must be deleted either by directly deleting or by compressing.
Fig : unwanted PIDs list Fig : Required PIDs
6. Finally the surfaces can be wrapped to create a common volume inside by using wrap option in MESH>ELEMENTS>WRAP>CONSTANT_LENGTH and the Octree parameters need to be assigned as well.
