Week 5 Challenge : Surface wrap on Automotive Assembly

Aim:

The aim of the challenge is to check for the geometrical errors and delete surfaces which are unwanted for Surface wrap.

Objective:

There are three models such as Engine model, Gearbox model and Transmission model, check for the geometrical errors and delete surfaces which are unwanted for Surface wrap as shown in the videos. After clearing geometry, Merge all 3 models and perform surface wrap.

Target length for Wrap = 3 mm.

Procedure:

1. Engine model:

The steps to delete the unwanted surfaces in engine model.

1. Importing the model

2. Checking the unwanted surfaces present in the model

3. Final output of the model after deleting the unwanted surfaces.

2. Gear box model:

Importing the gear box model to the ANSA interface.

Final gearbox without unwanted surfaces which are not connecting to any surfaces.

3. Transmission model:

Importing the model into the ANSA interface.

Deleting the unwanted surfaces in the transmission model.

Final model without any unwanted surfaces.

Surface wraping the model:

Deleting all the unwanted pipes in the engine model.

Removing the belts because it is thin part which is not captured in our screen.

Closing all the holes to make surface wraps.

Merging the engine model with the surface deleted transmission model.

Merging the model with other exixting model.

Patching all the holes which are present in the gearbox modela nd transmission model.

Lets start with surface wrap by selecting the front view.

Deleting the unwanted PID using compress tool.

Selecting the contents over the model to make wrap.

Moving all the selected PID to the Octree.

All the necessary details are given to the run the wrap.

Final surface warp of all three merged model.

Inside the wrap model.

Conclusion:

Finally for the given model,

check for the geometrical errors and delete surfaces which are unwanted for Surface wrap as shown in the videos. After clearing geometry, Merge all 3 models and perform surface wrap with Target length for Wrap = 3 mm is sucessfully done using the ANSA Meshing software.
