>Plate girder (PG) provides maximum flexibilty and economy.
>PGs can be tapered, cranked , or haunched.
>It can also have web opened for service to accomodate services.

Q1) SHEAR RESISTANCE OF WEB
The presence of thick flange improves the shear buckling strength of plate girder. The effective position of longitudinal stiffener is at mid height of the web panel so that maximum shear resistance can be achieved.
