Week 5 Bending of iPhone
Objective: To perform bending of iphone and evaluate deformation, life and factor of safety.
Setting up the analysis: The model is imported and different materials are used like aluminum non linear alloy, glass(which is customized)polyethylene and structural steel.

The parts in the geometry are fingers which is given deafault material (structural steel),display (glass), frame(aluminium NL alloy) and body(polyethylene)
All the names are changed accondigly when the geometry is opened in ANSYS mechanical
All the fingers behaviour except one pushing finger's is changed to rigid

Renamed the contacts based on the difinition and except for the contact between body and frame (which is bonded), named all other contacts as frictionless.

Selected all the fingers on the top and assigned fixed joint to them .

selected two bottom fingers and assigned translation motion to them

Mesh:
Selected the face sizing option and selected the phases which are subjcted to bending and given the mesh size of 4mm

Boundary conditions:
Both sides of the frame and body are fixed so that while bending the system wont move.
Transaltion motion in 8 steps is given to the pushing fingers in the Y axis direction. The displacement is given in such a way that it gets back to its original shape after displacing it initially.

Analysis settings

Solution:
Case 1: (when the pushing fingers are on one side)
Directional deformation

Equivalent strain

Equivalent stress

Safety factor

Life

Case 2: (When the fingers are placed at the center)
Directional deformation

Equivalent strain

Equivalent stresss

Safety factor

Life

Results:
| Case | Directional Deformation(mm) | Equivalent stress(MPa) | Equivalent strain | Safety factor |
| Fingers placed at side | 3.73 | 386.8 | 0.0056 | 0.72 |
| Fingers placed at center | 4.2 | 915.11 | 0.118 | 0.69 |
Conclusion:
As the fingers are placed at the center, we can observe that more stress and defromation is produced and also less safety factor
