Q1:- Explain the various applications of Power converters in an Electric vehicle. For Example what

type of converter will you use for Horn which requires DC and less than 10V. Likewise come up with

different applications

There are lots of Applications of Power converters in electric vehicles we will discuss them one by one as.

• In the EV Horn which has the operating voltage less than 10V , we will use a step down buck converter

with na suitable duty ratio to acheive the desired operating voltage for the horn.

• For the charging of battery pack in electric vehicle we use a onboard charger which consists a AC to DC

power electronic converter which .

• For charging the phone or other electric gedgets we are using a Buck power converter to reduce the

voltage levels like 5V DC for our phone chargers.

• For charging the laptop in Electric vehicle we need to convert the 12C dc to !9V which uses a Boost type

power electronic converter.

• We are using a DC to AC converter or a traction inverter which consists a power electronic converter of

Higher power rating up to 300Kw or hogher.

• For the headlights or Dome lights we use a power electronic converter Dimmer to change the intensity
• of lights.
