Challenge

Week 4- Rolling operation

Objective:

Find out the following parameters using Ansys-Workbench:

  1. Equivalent stress for the whole setup.
  2. Equivalent Plastic strain for the workpiece.
  3. Directional Deformation in the Z-axis for the workpiece.
  4. To Prove that the workpiece has been displaced by 90mm.

load case:

A) Wheel 1 & 2 provided rotation from 0 to 195 degrees in 14 steps as shown below as shown.

B) Workpiece provided displacement in -Y direction up to 90 mm in 14 steps.

Simulation Results:

1. Equivalent stress for the whole setup:

2. Equivalent Plastic strain for the workpiece:

3. Directional Deformation in the Z-axis for the workpiece:

4. To Prove that the workpiece has been displaced by 90mm.

Simulation results of directional deformation in -Y-axis shows the Displacement of the workpiece in the given direction, Hence from simulation, it is proved that the workpiece moves by 89.50 mm approximately 90 mm.

Conclusion: Values obtained from simulations are given below.

Sr No. Parameter Result
1 EQUIVALENT STRESS (Mpa) 2156.5 Mpa (Max.)
2 EQUIVALENT PLASTIC STRAIN 1.2394 (Max.)
3 DIRECTIONAL DEFORMATION IN Z-AXIS -5.39 to 6.07 mm (Total 11.42 mm in Z-aixs)
4 DIRECTIONAL DEFORMATION IN Y-AXIS 89.507 (Displacement value)

Simulation video for Equivalent Stress also attached to examine the behavior workpiece undergoes while Rolling Process.
