Week 4- Rolling operation

REPORT

ROLLING OPERATION

OBJECTIVE

To stimulate the rolling operation on a workpiece made of copper. To perform static structural analysis on the rolling operation.

PROCEDURE

In this analysis we use copper alloy NL as work piece. The properties of the material is shown below,

The setup is opened in space claim GUI and increase the length to 60mm and decrease the size of the sides by 8mm. The modified model is shown below,

The model is opened in mechanical GUI.

Renamed as wheel 1, wheel 2 and work piece. The contacts are specified and that is shown below,

Cylindrical joints are given to both the wheels.

Mesh of 5mm is given to work piece and set default for wheels.

ANALYSIS SETTING

The simulation is running through 14 steps.

Large deflection -ON

Stabilization- constant

Energy dissipation ratio - 0.1

Displacement of 90mm is given to the work piece.

Wheels are rotated to 195 degrees, one is clock wise and other is anti clock wise so that the workpiece will be dragged towards.

RESULTS

The equivalent stress of the whole model is shown below,

The equivalent plastic strain of the work piece.

Directional deformation of the workpiece in z direction

The displacement by the work piece is shown below,

CONCLUSION

The analysis is performed successfully. The displacement of the workpiece is 89.553 that is almost 90mm is shown above in the displacement result. All the demanded results are shown above.
