Project 2 - 2D meshing on the instrumental Panel

   AIM

To correct the geometrical errors and to mesh the given component satisfying the quality criteria.

   PROCEDURE

First performed topo and give target element length then i checked for checks-geometry-autofix but it cant fix all the errors. So i used hotpoints-delete, cons-release, breah,topo faces-new,delete  those commands to correct the geometric errors.

For midsurface generation, the automid was not working because it is a plastic component (having different thickness) so i used faces-offset and feature angle selection for the extraction of outer surface. Then i started capturing the features using faces-offset, middle, extent, intersect, new, curves-middle, create,cons2curve, cons-project.

After midsurface generation i started meshing, first i set the midsurface a new part in model for batch meshing. Then i used batch meshing to generate mesh. I used batch mesh because casting method cant generate proper mesh for the model especially in doghouse area and manual meshing would take many more time. To correct the mesh i used mesh generation-erase,best, macros-edje2perim, shellmesh-smooth,reconstruction, elements-split, swap.

  I used grids-allign, transform-move-node,  split, smooth to correct the  problem shown below.

             

 Then i used elements-release to seperate FE and cad.

      LEARNING OUTCOME

Dog house like features cannot be captured properly by casting method it can olny be acheived through manual method. Learned to capture faster than before.

      CONCLUSION

 The midsurface generation and meshing is done for the given component and i am able to acheive a good meshflow. Capturing the features took more time for me than all other works combined. There are total 43889 elements having 41669 quads and 2220 trias so tria concentration is 5.06%. There are some 107 OFF elements adjecent to triple cons as it is impossible to clear.
