Week 3 - 2D meshing for Sheet metal
Objective
To check the geometrical errors of given Hood model and take the mid surface and then mesh the mid surface with given quality criteria.
Procedure
First procedure is to take the mid surface of the geometry, for that i use the autofix option in the topo module. Then i perform Face topo option. I manually fix all the geometrical errors. Measure the thickness, it is all over (0.75). I use Faces-Offset option to perform manual midsurface generation. I succesfully completed the mid surfacing of all elements by fixing all the errors, cracks. Then I move to mesh module , set perimeter- length =5. Deleted unwanted hotpoints. I assigned the quality parameters given. Because the model is symmetrical, I deleted the one half and maintained the unsymmetrical flat part. There are many more cuts, so i had to remove some of the cuts and make new ones. After completing geometric cleanup i started meshing the half of the model.I use meshgeneration- best for meshing. by the help of shellmesh- reconstruction, smooth , element-split, i managed to obtain good mesh flow satisfying the given quality criteria. I perform macros- join (option list- keep) to remove the cuts to the one half of the meshed geometry, then i find some unmeshed part and errors and cleared all. Finally i meshed the one half remove all the cuts, but i find couple of minor errors and i cant fix it because i already removed all the cuts and i dont have time to work on the model from begining because i need to submit on time. Then i use elements- offset option to make mesh elements and by the help of transform- symmetry i managed to produce the other half.
RESULT
The mid surface is generated and good mesh flow is acheived in the one half of the model satisfying given quality criteria.
