Week 4- Rolling operation
Objective:
To simulate the rolling operation on a workpiece made of copper and anaylse the Equivalent Stress, Plastic Strain and Directional Deformation.
Model:
The workpiece has a length of 60mm after extension and the width is decreased along both sides by 8mm.
The Workpiece is assigned Copper as the material. A face sizing of 2mm is given to the workpiece while the rolls are given 3 mm mesh.
Obersvation:
a) Equivalent Stress
b) Equivalent Plastic Strain
c) Directional Deformation
Results:
| Simulation | Magnitude |
| Max Equivalent Stress(whole system) | 3138.2 |
| Max Directional Deformation(Z-Axis) | 6.4185 |
| Max Equivalent Plastic Strain(w/p) | 1.6923 |
Proof of 90mm Displacement
In order to verify whether the work piece has indeed was displaced by 90mm, the Directional Deformation test was done on the curved surfaces on the lower tip of thw workpiece. The deformation is directed along the -Y axis.
From the simulation given above we can see that the work piece has indeed been displaced by 90mm.
