Challenge

Week 4- Rolling operation

Objective: To simulate the rolling of a sheet made of Copper Alloy NL using two rollers made of Structural Steel and study the equivalent stress for the whole setup, equivalent plastic strain for the sheet, directional deformation along the z axis for the sheet and prove that the displacement of the sheet is 90 mm using directional deformation of the front face of the sheet along the y axis.

Procedure:

  1. Contacts:
  2. Joints:
  3. Boundary Conditions:

Analysis:

  1. Directional Deformation 1 (Sheet):
  2. Directional Deformation 2 (Front Face of the Sheet):
  3. Equivalent Plastic Strain (Sheet):
  4. Equivalent Stress (Whole Setup):

Result:

Directional Deformation 1 (mm) Directional Deformation 2 (mm) Equivalent Plastic Strain (mm/mm) Equivalent Stress (MPa)
Maximum Minimum Maximum Minimum Maximum Minimum Maximum Minimum
7.5504 -4.8123 -89.542 -90 1.5897 0.0064754 4609 0.0030662

Conclusion: It is proved that the displacement of the sheet is -90 mm along the y axis. The negative sign just indicates that the direction of displacement is along the negative y axis.
