STUDENT OF ONLINE EV BATCH 16
ANS 1:
- What is the difference between mapped and dynamic model of engine, motor and generator? How can you change model type?
MAPPED MODEL :
1. The mapped model is one type where the data points are pre_assigned in lookup tables.
2. The Engine or motor torque required is sensed and the motor or engine blocks generates the required torue output just as required simply without considering the real time motor or engine parameters.
3. The output values are stored for corressponding given input values of motor and generator.
4. The accuracy of this type is not that much high but the simulation will be done in much less time as it does not run by real time parameters.

DYNAMIC MODEL :
1. Dynamic model uses the combination of the outputs from varoius subsystems to generate the output.
2. It runs by real time simulation where the required input from the drive cycle is taken and for that individual real simulation gets performed and summing all the results of the subsystem gives the output for the simulation.
3. As per the drive cycle requirement the initial bus voltage, current is given along with the vehicle feedback so to run the actual simulation at that particular moment through the drive cycle.
4. The accuracy of this model is very as it considers the real outputs from all the subsystem to generate the output.
5. The simulation will take very long time to complete as it has so many individual simulations running by all the subsystem of the engine, motor or generator.

Steps to select the Model Type :
1. In the power train blockset module we first need to select the vehicle type first whether it is full electric, full engine or the type of hybrid vehicle.
2. After that the simulink model appears by showing the work flow blocks of the model.
3. In that we need to go to 'Passenger Block Electric plant' EV Motor/Generator block.
4. After this just click and go to variance label active choice MotorGenEV Mapped or Dynamic.
ANS 2:
2. How does the model calculate miles per gallon? Which factors are considered to model fuel flow?
Miles per gallon :
1. Miles per Gallon is a fuel economy rating determined by how far a car can travel on a gallon of petrol or disel for a engine powered by car.
2. In case of an electric vehicle it tells us the energy which is equivalent to of engine powered carto propel the car through a distnce.
3. The distance travelled per unit volume of fuel used; for example, kilometres per litre (km/L) or miles per gallon (mpg). In this case, the higher the value, the more economic a vehicle is (the more distance it can travel with a certain volume of fuel).
4. The power train blockset has a model that calculates the miles per gallon for all kinds of vehicle.

The above model takes the input of the vehicle speed, Fuel flow and Battery power to calculate the fuel consumption and the equivalent battery consumption and calculations in miles per gallon as:
Vehicle speed and fuel flow :

Battery Power :

Calculating Miles per Gallons :

1. Inputs from the vehicle speed i.e the distance we found(in meters) is taken into the calclation and it is converted to the miles by multiplying with 0.000621371.
2. Then the inputs from fuel flow( Battery energy + Fuel energy) taken in mA3 and is converted into equivalent US Gallons by multiplying with 264.172.
3. Then the two inputs Miles covered and equivalent US Gallon is further divided and the result is got in Miles/Gallon.
