Week-4 Challenge WOT Condition Part-2

1.what is the difference between mapped and dynamic model of engine, motor and generator?how can you change model type?

Mapped and Dynamic subsystem of Electric motor/Generator

Mapped Model:

  • The mapped model is one type where the data points are pre_assigned in lookup tables.
  • The engine or motor torque required is sensed and the motor or engine block generates the required torque Output just as required Torque output just as required simply without considering the real time motor or engine, parameters
  • the accuracy of this type is not that High but the simulation will be done not run by real time parameters.

Dynamic Model:

  • The dynamic model in other hand uses the combination of the outputs from various subsystems to generate the output
  • it runs by real time simulation where thr required input from the drive cycle is taken and for that individual real time simulation gets performed and summing all the results of the subsystems gives the output for the simulation
  • the figure below shows the working phase of the dynamic model

steps to select the model type:

  • In the power train blocksets module we first need to select the vehicle type first wheather it is full electric, full engine or the type of hybrid vehicle
  • after that the simulink model appears by showing the work flow blocks of the model.
  • in that we need to go to passenger block electric plant EV motor/generator block
  • after this just right click and go to variance label mode motorgen EV Mapped or dynamic

2. CACULATING THE MILES PER GALLON:

1.Usually to calculate miles per gallon, the automobile is first filled with fuel fully until its fuel tank is full.then the distance travelled in odometer in noted and then the automobile is started and is used until all the fuel is consumed thus emptying the fuel tank.

2.now again the distance travelled is noted down and the difference between both the readings of distance travelled is found out.then this difference value is divided by the total fuel tank capacity of the automobile in miles per gallon

3.for example if the vehicles intial odometer reading is 2000 miles and its fuel capacity is 10 gallons.after filling the fuel completely and starting the trip,at the end of trip

Difference in distance =3000-2000=1000miles

Fuel tank capacity=10 gallons

there fore its mileage is 1000/10=100

4.in the simulink model, its also calculates the performance in the similar manner.

5.The above figure shows how the model calculations miles per gallon.above model can be found in the "visulization block"of the HEV model and in the 'visulaization block' click on 'performance calculation' block then the above model will open.

6.in the above model we can observe that FACTORS that are needed as inputs to the model are vehicle speed.fuel volume flow and battery power.as these values changes the performances of the vehicle also changes.

7.here first the velocity of the vehicle is converted into distance by integrating the velocity values and then distances is converted from meters to miles and km.

8.now the distance and volume of fuel id divide to get the performance results in miles per gallon and litres/100km.

9.factors that are required to model fuel flow are battery power.conversions from watt to cubic meter per gallon.

3.TO RUN HEV REFFERENCE MODEL IN WOT DRIVE CYCLE:

1.To change the drive cycle, click on the "Drive Cycle Source' block and from the drop down, select WOT option.

2.Now run the model to observe the results.

3.We will the above results once the simulation has ended.in the first graph we can see the difference between drive cycle and actual velocity change.to attain maximum speed ,it takes nearly 18 seconds and to reach zero velocity from maximum velocity it takes nearly 5 seconds.

4.in the second graph we can observe that while achieving the top speed, the speed of motor is varying continuosly and once achieved the speed of motor is constant and then the speed reduced continuously to zero.

5.in the third graph ,here also the torque od motor is much smoother than hev model an we can also observe that while the vehicle is decelerating ,it is in regenerative braking mode.

6.in the fourth graph, the SOC of battery is decrease slowly like HEV model but there it decrease much more than the HEV model.since in electric vehicle only battery is used so battery is consumed more thus while aheveing top speed the SOC line in the graph falls down .

7.in the fifth and sixth graph we can observe that the state of change(SOC) has decreased as to achieveing top speed some battery change is used.and for fuel economy graph we can see economy is less initially as more fuel is needed to achieve top speed.

4.TO COMPARE THE RESULTS OF HYBRID AND PURE ELECTRIC VEHICLE:

1.By clicking the above linkof EV refernce model following model will open which will similar to that of HEV REFERENCE model, nut inside EV model there will no engine model or block.the drive cycle is changed like the previous model to wot drive cycle.

2. now when we run the model ,we get the following results

\

3.here in the above figure ,in the first graph qwe can see the top speed is achieved nearly at 14 seconds which very quick than the HEV model graph the time taken to come to zero velocity from top speed is nearly 5 seconds.

4.in the second graph,we can observe that the graph is much smother than the HEV model.thus in electric vehicle the motor speed.

5.in the third graph ,here also the torque od motors is much smoother than ev model and we can also observe that while the vehicles is decelerating.it is in regenerative braking mode.

6.in the fourth graph ,the soc of battery is decrease slowly like hev model but there it decrease muvh more than the hev model.since in electric vehicle only battery is used so battery is consumed.

7.in the fifth graph ,we can observe that the current consumed the hev is less than the ev as the mass of ev is less so less current to used compared to HEV.

8. in the sixth graph we can see that the fuel economy the vehicle is very high than the that of HEV.

CONCLUSIONS:

1.THUS ALL THE OBJECTIVES WERE ACHIEVED SUCCESSFULLY.

2.SIMILAR KIND OF APPROACH CAN BE FOLLOWED TO STUDY SIMILAR MODELS IN SIMULINK AND MATLAB
