Week-4 Challenge WOT Condition Part-2

1.Mapped model:

  • In mapped model the data points are pre assigned in the lockup table.
  • The torque is sensed and generates required torque without considering real time paramters.
  • The output of this model is not that accurate but simulation time is very less.

Dynamic model:

  • It is opposite of mapped model which includes all real time parameters.
  • This model uses output of different conbinations of subsystems and generated input accordingly.
  • The simulation time is very high as it considers real outputs from all subsystems.

Selecting the model type:

  • In the powertrain blockset, select the vehichle whether it is full electric, ic engine or hybrid type of vehicle.
  • Click on Passenger block Electric plant* Electric motor/ Generator block.
  • Go to Variance label mode Active choice Motor GenEV Mapped/Dynamic.

2.

The diagram shows the calculations of miles per gallon.Various parameters like vehicle speed, fuel volume flow and battery power are responsible for change in model fuel flow.

3.

Running the model only change in drive cycle as Wide Open Throttle (WOT) and keeping the parameters as default. the results are

Condition 2:

Wind velocity=20 m/s

grade = 10

Comparision:

  • With all default values of parameters and only change in adding of hill climb angle and wind velocity results in various changes.
  • Velocity is reduces to 30mph at the time of deviation and time taken to attain that speed 20sec.
  • The motor speed is continously varing to achieve the top speed, at 20 sec when deviation in vehicle speed the motor speed is slowy reduces to zero.
  • The engine torque is high to achieve the engine speed and to climb the vehicle to the top after reaching the torque reduces slowly to zero and reach the negative value as the engine is rotating due to incline of hill so it's negative.
  • Battter current used by the vehicle is high upto 20sec,then it tends to zero as there will be no acceleration.
  • State of Charge of Battery is reduces 70% at the final stage of vehicle.
  • Fuel economyy is almost similar in both cases but slight dip in economy at 7th second.

4.

  • The speed attained by the vehicle is higher in electric than in hybrid electric vehicle.
  • Battery current of the electric vehicle is goes to negative value at deviation started as it is charging the battery and no acceleration is applied which means no electric power is consumed.
  • In hybrid electric vehicle the engine speed gained is 8200rpm when it compared to electric vehicle it achieved only 4000rpm which is less in electric vehicle.
